Dark purple/inky robe with some bricking. Lovely dark-fruited and animale nose with hints of black peppercorn and leather. Rich, but by no means plodding, with good Monastrell density and gaminess and savory Syrah character framed by nearly resolved tannins and buoyed by freshening acidity and any wood notes digested at this point. There’s a fine mineral tang here than seems more limestone in character than schist or granite, though I couldn’t tell you what the soils are. Really satisfying and an excellent value. Enjoyed w/ SE @ Great New York Noodletown. Would purchase again.

Color: deep ruby Nose: plum, anise, leather, earth Taste: plum, dark fruit, forest floor This is still a young looking and tasting wine with tons of fruit upfront and secondary flavors just peeking through - some cigar box, leather and earth. Nice light tannins. Not sure how it will evolve but a few years or more to go.

Bill's. Really like this. I owned some at one time and am sad to acknowledge now that I drank them way too young. It's not too young now, but neither is it at the end of its life as the CT drink-by dates indicate. Color still in the purple zone with plenty of cocoa and spice. Not typical syrah to the new world palate--no fennel, tar or bacon--but excellent red wine nonetheless and there's a nice experience ahead for the 643 bottles that remain in cellars.

(FINCA SANDOVAL) Sandoval Dear Friends, Here's another wine that must have positive chatter somewhere (in addition to the critical praise) as we've received a suspicious number of inquires for it over the last few weeks. I'd like to think it's syzygy (not the wine, the actual celestial alignment) but my intuition tells me the stars have not affected this one - it's probably a blog posting of some sort. While I did not set out to make this a major offer, I try to fulfill your requests if I'm able to secure a parcel with impeccable provenance. Here you go.... ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this terrific price: 2005 Finca Sandoval (Manchuela) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Spain8240
(Finca Sandoval Manchuela Castilla La Mancha) Sandoval Dear Friends, I'm indisposed at the moment but hopefully this will tide you over... A number of you have asked for this wine but I've had a difficult time competing on price until today. I realize it's available all over the US, but I've finally been able to secure a price that makes sense (although you can find it for a few dollars less in the south - Georgia and Louisiana): This parcel is directly from the source with perfect provenance: 2005 Finca Sandoval Manchuela (Castilla La Mancha) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone9060

Still enjoyable, but has lost some of its pizazz.
